Once changed...

Once changed, make your way out to poolside and we are in the far left hand pool in the corner. Walk carefully around the kidney shaped spa pool and you will be met by Liz, or one of our other therapists, in the hydrotherapy pool area. It is ideal to allow yourself a few minutes before your appointment time to get changed and make your way over to us.
If you use a walking aid to assist with mobilising please let us know when booking the appointment as we will need to walk with you across poolside from the changing rooms due to the wet floors and danger of slipping. Liz will discuss this with you.
If you are coming with someone else they are welcome to come over to pool side with you but please ensure they put blue shoe covers over their shoes before entering poolside. They are in a holder on wall before you get out onto poolside.
We will ask you to fill in a registration form. Your treating therapist will meet you and go through a full assessment and screening. This will enable us to offer you the best treatment possible. Please use this time to also discuss any questions about your treatment.

The Pool

Our pool is a superb hydrotherapy pool 10m x 4m with a gentle ramp entrance.
It has 8m of 1.2 m depth and 2m of 1.8m depth water kept at 34.5°C.
There is various equipment we use kept in the pool for our sessions and these will be pointed out to you so that you are aware of stools, steps and bed frames.
The warm water enhances the buoyancy effect of water and you are likely to feel very floaty and a little unstable initially, but your hydrotherapist will be with you the whole time.
Your hydrotherapist will always ensure you are happy with any position and equipment used in the water and will do everything they can to make it an enjoyable experience! If you are unhappy or unsure about anything during your session please let them know.
The centre rules state that no mobile phones are to be used on poolside.

Self Exercise

Because hydrotherapy is such a useful and effective form of treatment for management of long term conditions we offer self exercise sessions for clients who have attended for assessment and treatment for at least 2 sessions. These are for clients who need to use the pool to maintain rather than have active treatment or to build up stamina and endurance between treatment sessions. If your hydrotherapist thinks this would be useful for you they will design a programme that you can follow on your own during the times we are in the pool. However, we have to be certain that this is the best thing for you to do and to ensure you will be safe to have these sessions.

You can access the pool for these sessions between 8am and 1.30pm and can book your time slot with Liz on our contact  number 07703 774199
